Narrative:
We were cleared for takeoff. The aircraft that had just departed reported 'we may have hit something.' since it was night time and below 80 knots; I elected to abort the takeoff and wait for a runway inspection. Re-ran all the checklists and re-ran [onboard performance tool] data. We departed as normal.

Title: Air carrier flight crew executed an RTO at approximately 70 KTS when a preceding aircraft advised Tower that they had hit something on their takeoff roll.
Narrative: We were cleared for takeoff. The aircraft that had just departed reported 'we may have hit something.' Since it was night time and below 80 knots; I elected to abort the takeoff and wait for a runway inspection. Re-ran all the checklists and re-ran [Onboard Performance Tool] data. We departed as normal.
