Narrative:
Air field border crossing VFR flight plan. Called ZMA for border crossing squawk--no reply. Crossed ADIZ, over pbi before contact with ZMA. Later upon landing found microphone connector loosed, shorted out voice when transmitting. Departed myat (treasure bay, bahamas), en route to fpr. At approximately AD00Z we tuned in ZMA on 127.3. We started calling ZMA. ZMA was very busy. We tried calling 6-10 times, but no response. This did not seem unusual, as many times when we have called a busy center we have found they may not acknowledge aircraft calling that they are not working. Prior to reaching pbi, we called miami radio on 122.4 and then again on 122.1, listening on pbi. We heard nothing. This again was not considered unusual as many times before we have not been able to raise FSS at at given time. Approximately AD30Z we crossed pbi and headed for fpr. Shortly thereafter, we called ZMA to get an IFR approach into fpr. After 2 tries, center announced that someone had a stuck microphone. I immediately called called again and center came back with a 'there it goes again.' this was the first time I realized we had no voice on our xmissions. I removed my microphone plug from the jack in the panel and reinserted it into the jack. Upon calling center they came right back. We announced we were on a VFR border crossing flight plan to fpr and needed to get in. We requested an IFR approach. We got a squawk and proceeded to fpr. Customs approached us telling us we had failed to obtain a squawk when entering the ADIZ, thus requiring intercept jets to be scrambled. We explained our attempts to contact center. They became less hostile and told us that they had been advised to give us a 'hard time' by whoever contacted them.

Title: GA SMA UNAUTH ADIZ CROSSING EAST OF MIA.
Narrative: AIR FIELD BORDER XING VFR FLT PLAN. CALLED ZMA FOR BORDER XING SQUAWK--NO REPLY. CROSSED ADIZ, OVER PBI BEFORE CONTACT WITH ZMA. LATER UPON LNDG FOUND MIKE CONNECTOR LOOSED, SHORTED OUT VOICE WHEN XMITTING. DEPARTED MYAT (TREASURE BAY, BAHAMAS), ENRTE TO FPR. AT APPROX AD00Z WE TUNED IN ZMA ON 127.3. WE STARTED CALLING ZMA. THIS AGAIN WAS NOT CONSIDERED UNUSUAL AS MANY TIMES BEFORE WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RAISE FSS AT AT GIVEN TIME. APPROX AD30Z WE CROSSED PBI AND HEADED FOR FPR. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WE CALLED ZMA TO GET AN IFR APCH INTO FPR. AFTER 2 TRIES, CENTER ANNOUNCED THAT SOMEONE HAD A STUCK MIKE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED CALLED AGAIN AND CENTER CAME BACK WITH A 'THERE IT GOES AGAIN.' THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I REALIZED WE HAD NO VOICE ON OUR XMISSIONS. I REMOVED MY MIKE PLUG FROM THE JACK IN THE PANEL AND REINSERTED IT INTO THE JACK. UPON CALLING CENTER THEY CAME RIGHT BACK. WE ANNOUNCED WE WERE ON A VFR BORDER XING FLT PLAN TO FPR AND NEEDED TO GET IN. WE REQUESTED AN IFR APCH. WE GOT A SQUAWK AND PROCEEDED TO FPR. CUSTOMS APCHED US TELLING US WE HAD FAILED TO OBTAIN A SQUAWK WHEN ENTERING THE ADIZ, THUS REQUIRING INTERCEPT JETS TO BE SCRAMBLED. WE EXPLAINED OUR ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT CENTER. THEY BECAME LESS HOSTILE AND TOLD US THAT THEY HAD BEEN ADVISED TO GIVE US A 'HARD TIME' BY WHOEVER CONTACTED THEM.
