Narrative:
While conducting OJT instruction, trnee vectored aircraft back to centerline of arwy as he was 1/2 mi south of centerline and infringing on la airspace and TCA. Pilot either did not hear correct heading or jumbled altimeter #south and heading, and, in either case, read back wrong heading and turned to wrong heading. As soon as this was noted, he was vectored away from la airspace. Pilot gave no indication he was going to make a radical 180 degree turn.
