Narrative:

After takeoff and gear retraction we got an aircraft generator fail light. We completed the climb check and abnormal checklist. Being unfamiliar with route flown GGG-tyr and on initial operating experience (IOE), I confused tyr (114.2) with GGG (112.4). Clearance was given direct to tyr. Approach notified this deviation to our attention. At same time the AC gen light came on again and I deviated to 4400' MSL. Clearance was to 4000' MSL. Approach notified us and we corrected. En route to tyr ATIS information reported altimeter of 29.96. GGG altimeter was 29.66. When setting 29.96 with autoplt on the aircraft descended to 3700 with GGG approach notifying us of the deviation. We told GGG approach of the reported altimeter change. When contacting tyr tower they corrected the altimeter to 29.66 and said the ATIS was in error and was corrected. Total flight time was 10 min. Supplemental information from acn 127531: all of these errors and distractions led to a landing in tyr without a clearance. This was discovered after landing when I noticed we were still on tyr approach frequency 124.1 instead of tower frequency 120.1.

Title: LTT FO ON IOE HAD GENERATOR FAIL LIGHT JUST AFTER TKOF. DISTR RESULTED IN ALT DEVIATION. WRONG ALTIMETER SETTING ON ATIS CREATED SECOND ALT DEVIATION.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF AND GEAR RETRACTION WE GOT AN ACFT GENERATOR FAIL LIGHT. WE COMPLETED THE CLIMB CHECK AND ABNORMAL CHECKLIST. BEING UNFAMILIAR WITH ROUTE FLOWN GGG-TYR AND ON INITIAL OPERATING EXPERIENCE (IOE), I CONFUSED TYR (114.2) WITH GGG (112.4). CLRNC WAS GIVEN DIRECT TO TYR. APCH NOTIFIED THIS DEVIATION TO OUR ATTN. AT SAME TIME THE AC GEN LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND I DEVIATED TO 4400' MSL. CLRNC WAS TO 4000' MSL. APCH NOTIFIED US AND WE CORRECTED. ENRTE TO TYR ATIS INFO REPORTED ALTIMETER OF 29.96. GGG ALTIMETER WAS 29.66. WHEN SETTING 29.96 WITH AUTOPLT ON THE ACFT DESCENDED TO 3700 WITH GGG APCH NOTIFYING US OF THE DEVIATION. WE TOLD GGG APCH OF THE REPORTED ALTIMETER CHANGE. WHEN CONTACTING TYR TWR THEY CORRECTED THE ALTIMETER TO 29.66 AND SAID THE ATIS WAS IN ERROR AND WAS CORRECTED. TOTAL FLT TIME WAS 10 MIN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM ACN 127531: ALL OF THESE ERRORS AND DISTRACTIONS LED TO A LNDG IN TYR WITHOUT A CLRNC. THIS WAS DISCOVERED AFTER LNDG WHEN I NOTICED WE WERE STILL ON TYR APCH FREQ 124.1 INSTEAD OF TWR FREQ 120.1.
