Narrative:

On approach into lax we had programmed the FMS for the RIIVR3 arrival and ILS 24 approach; after being advised to expect it for landing. We confirmed all the waypoints and any altitude and speed restrictions and found no errors for that arrival and approach to 24L.we were cleared for an approach after riivr intersection which has a transition to 25L and 24L. We still assumed 24L for the landing runway. However after we passed the extended center-line for 25L the controller queried us and asked us to turn left to re-intercept the ILS to 25L now. We switched from LNAV to heading select and re-programmed the FMS for 25L. We intercepted the course and commenced the approach with no further issue or comment from the controller. We could query ATC on exactly which runway to expect and which approach we are cleared for if in any doubt.
