Narrative:
ATC clearance to 9000. At 9500 ATC asked altitude, then cleared us to 11,000'. Departing ont, rv to dag, cleared direct dag, clear morning, sun bright in east, looking for traffic through banning pass, climbing at high rate, no altitude alerter sounded, just flew through assigned altitude. Caught after controller's question. Stopped climbing, then issued cleared to 11,000. We wrote up altitude alerter system upon landing slc.
