Narrative:
I landed at longmont airport (co), pulled off the runway to let plane #2 land since the C and west txwys were closed. Taxied to the east end of runway to prepare for takeoff. Other plane taxied to west end of runway and asked about taxiway being closed. I told him the only available taxiway was at east end of runway. I asked him if I could take off. He said, 'ok.' I did run-up and took off. During the time I did run-up, he taxied (I assume) about 1000' on the runway toward me (4000-5000' sep). I took off over him when he was on the left (south) side of the runway. There was no problem of safety, but I found it quite disconcerting to see him 1000' east of his end of the runway. My conclusions: 1) I should have waited for him to taxi back down the runway 5000-6000' and then taken off. 2) never trust anyone, particularly people who are unfamiliar with the airport or closures.

Title: SMA PLT DEPARTS ON OCCUPIED RWY. CLOSE ENCOUNTER.
Narrative: I LANDED AT LONGMONT ARPT (CO), PULLED OFF THE RWY TO LET PLANE #2 LAND SINCE THE C AND W TXWYS WERE CLOSED. TAXIED TO THE E END OF RWY TO PREPARE FOR TKOF. OTHER PLANE TAXIED TO W END OF RWY AND ASKED ABOUT TXWY BEING CLOSED. I TOLD HIM THE ONLY AVAILABLE TXWY WAS AT E END OF RWY. I ASKED HIM IF I COULD TAKE OFF. HE SAID, 'OK.' I DID RUN-UP AND TOOK OFF. DURING THE TIME I DID RUN-UP, HE TAXIED (I ASSUME) ABOUT 1000' ON THE RWY TOWARD ME (4000-5000' SEP). I TOOK OFF OVER HIM WHEN HE WAS ON THE LEFT (S) SIDE OF THE RWY. THERE WAS NO PROB OF SAFETY, BUT I FOUND IT QUITE DISCONCERTING TO SEE HIM 1000' E OF HIS END OF THE RWY. MY CONCLUSIONS: 1) I SHOULD HAVE WAITED FOR HIM TO TAXI BACK DOWN THE RWY 5000-6000' AND THEN TAKEN OFF. 2) NEVER TRUST ANYONE, PARTICULARLY PEOPLE WHO ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT OR CLOSURES.
