Narrative:
During departure from hks just after hand off to jan departure; experienced GPS freeze/ malfunction; confusion in rebooting resulted in slow compliance to the climb heading assigned by jan departure. ATC was frustrated with the slow incorrect turn to the assigned heading and less than prompt compliance caused by fixation and cockpit confusion.

Title: BE36 pilot experienced GPS malfunction departing HKS and was unable to comply promptly with ATC instructions while the system was rebooted.
