Narrative:
Departing on runway 06L at bkl, SID instructions state a climbing left turn to a 330 degree heading and to 2000' to a specific intersection. After completing the turn to 330 degrees (over lake erie), and passing through 1900' for 2000', a flock of sea gulls (approximately 20 birds) appeared directly in my flight path (both above and below). Impact was almost certain and evasive action had to be taken.

Title: REPORTER DEPARTING BKL ENCOUNTERED BIRDS.
Narrative: DEPARTING ON RWY 06L AT BKL, SID INSTRUCTIONS STATE A CLBING LEFT TURN TO A 330 DEG HDG AND TO 2000' TO A SPECIFIC INTXN. AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN TO 330 DEGS (OVER LAKE ERIE), AND PASSING THROUGH 1900' FOR 2000', A FLOCK OF SEA GULLS (APPROX 20 BIRDS) APPEARED DIRECTLY IN MY FLT PATH (BOTH ABOVE AND BELOW). IMPACT WAS ALMOST CERTAIN AND EVASIVE ACTION HAD TO BE TAKEN.
