Narrative:
Dulles approachs area (referred to verbally) ILS 1R, ILS 1L, ILS 1 runway 1-9r, ILS 1 runway 1-9l, etc. Using #'south to differentiate between 2 approachs to the same runway is a confusing practice. Suggestions: use letters. (Yes, I now they are presently used only with np approachs, but so what? Why would it be a problem to simply change the rule?) or, if that's rejected, how about: big #'south (bigger than the name of the runway. For example, ILS 99 to 19L, or ILS 40 to 3R, or the ever popular ILS 69 to 12R).
