Narrative:
Was due to depart bna for cvg. After getting the WX, I found the field (cvg) to be below landing minimums. Approximately 2 hours later bna tower called the operations to let us know ZID was taking traffic into cvg. I rechked WX again, only to find the current WX to be west 1 X 1/8F. I called my dispatcher. He told me the field was open, people were getting in, and to bring the airplane home. I asked to be redispatched to overfly cvg to fwa. I allowed the dispatcher to talk me into coming home west/O dispatch to overfly. I did come into cvg, and I did land. After talking with my chief pilot, I found I had indeed been in error. Several factors caused this. This was my last leg before ending my trip. Close to a major holiday with pay, wanting to get home. The worst factor was my not going west/O the redispatch that I had asked for, which can be placed under the judgement heading. I did have an outstanding first officer and we did put plenty of fuel aboard. We also discussed the approach procedures, and both agreed to go. Lessons learned! Never again! If the WX is not at, or forecast to be, above landing minimums, I will not go. I will also not allow a dispatcher make the decisions for me when I have strong objections.

Title: COMMUTER LTT ILLEGAL DISPATCH.
Narrative: WAS DUE TO DEPART BNA FOR CVG. AFTER GETTING THE WX, I FOUND THE FIELD (CVG) TO BE BELOW LNDG MINIMUMS. APPROX 2 HRS LATER BNA TWR CALLED THE OPS TO LET US KNOW ZID WAS TAKING TFC INTO CVG. I RECHKED WX AGAIN, ONLY TO FIND THE CURRENT WX TO BE W 1 X 1/8F. I CALLED MY DISPATCHER. HE TOLD ME THE FIELD WAS OPEN, PEOPLE WERE GETTING IN, AND TO BRING THE AIRPLANE HOME. I ASKED TO BE REDISPATCHED TO OVERFLY CVG TO FWA. I ALLOWED THE DISPATCHER TO TALK ME INTO COMING HOME W/O DISPATCH TO OVERFLY. I DID COME INTO CVG, AND I DID LAND. AFTER TALKING WITH MY CHIEF PLT, I FOUND I HAD INDEED BEEN IN ERROR. SEVERAL FACTORS CAUSED THIS. THIS WAS MY LAST LEG BEFORE ENDING MY TRIP. CLOSE TO A MAJOR HOLIDAY WITH PAY, WANTING TO GET HOME. THE WORST FACTOR WAS MY NOT GOING W/O THE REDISPATCH THAT I HAD ASKED FOR, WHICH CAN BE PLACED UNDER THE JUDGEMENT HDG. I DID HAVE AN OUTSTANDING F/O AND WE DID PUT PLENTY OF FUEL ABOARD. WE ALSO DISCUSSED THE APCH PROCS, AND BOTH AGREED TO GO. LESSONS LEARNED! NEVER AGAIN! IF THE WX IS NOT AT, OR FORECAST TO BE, ABOVE LNDG MINIMUMS, I WILL NOT GO. I WILL ALSO NOT ALLOW A DISPATCHER MAKE THE DECISIONS FOR ME WHEN I HAVE STRONG OBJECTIONS.
