Narrative:
I was en route from pbi-cgf flying the flight planned route which I had been cleared. On initial contact with ZJX, I was reclred over jax atl bvt direct. After I copied the new route, I told the controller I understood and asked if he would try to change it because it was out of our way. The controller replied he couldn't, it was atl's request. At this time I asked the controller to check the strip for destination, and informed that I was landing at cleveland's cuyahoga county airport not chicago. He said 'I understand but you'll have to fly the new route.' I then asked if he would call atl to confirm our destination. He replied 'that is 3 sectors away you'll have to do it when you get there.' at this time I reminded him if I lost communications before this routing problem was resolved I would end up in one of the most congested airspace in the word flying direct to cgf. Chicago wouldn't be happy with this and it didn't sound like a safe idea to me. The controller then said he would check it out. Shortly after that he reclred me via the original route. My concern is a safety issue. Repeatedly I have found that ATC feels their authority is beyond reasoning. As a pilot in command I know reasoning is imperative to the decisions made for the safe operation of any aircraft.

Narrative: I WAS ENRTE FROM PBI-CGF FLYING THE FLT PLANNED ROUTE WHICH I HAD BEEN CLRED. ON INITIAL CONTACT WITH ZJX, I WAS RECLRED OVER JAX ATL BVT DIRECT. AFTER I COPIED THE NEW ROUTE, I TOLD THE CTLR I UNDERSTOOD AND ASKED IF HE WOULD TRY TO CHANGE IT BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF OUR WAY. THE CTLR REPLIED HE COULDN'T, IT WAS ATL'S REQUEST. AT THIS TIME I ASKED THE CTLR TO CHECK THE STRIP FOR DEST, AND INFORMED THAT I WAS LNDG AT CLEVELAND'S CUYAHOGA COUNTY ARPT NOT CHICAGO. HE SAID 'I UNDERSTAND BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO FLY THE NEW ROUTE.' I THEN ASKED IF HE WOULD CALL ATL TO CONFIRM OUR DEST. HE REPLIED 'THAT IS 3 SECTORS AWAY YOU'LL HAVE TO DO IT WHEN YOU GET THERE.' AT THIS TIME I REMINDED HIM IF I LOST COMS BEFORE THIS ROUTING PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED I WOULD END UP IN ONE OF THE MOST CONGESTED AIRSPACE IN THE WORD FLYING DIRECT TO CGF. CHICAGO WOULDN'T BE HAPPY WITH THIS AND IT DIDN'T SOUND LIKE A SAFE IDEA TO ME. THE CTLR THEN SAID HE WOULD CHECK IT OUT. SHORTLY AFTER THAT HE RECLRED ME VIA THE ORIGINAL ROUTE. MY CONCERN IS A SAFETY ISSUE. REPEATEDLY I HAVE FOUND THAT ATC FEELS THEIR AUTHORITY IS BEYOND REASONING. AS A PLT IN COMMAND I KNOW REASONING IS IMPERATIVE TO THE DECISIONS MADE FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF ANY ACFT.
