Narrative:

As climb power was being set the oil filter clogging light illuminated. First officer and F/east got out the books and checklists and in accordance with them, the #2 engine was shut down. Being a 3-ENG aircraft I elected to continue the flight with 2 engines (with dispatchers concurrence) to ord. Considering the potential media and legal questions that could arise from this decision, the monday morning quarterbacks strongly felt I should forward this form. My decision to continue was based on the following points: over 2400 hours PIC time in this aircraft type; over 9000 hours PIC time in aircraft using the identical engine and maintained by the same company with 0 engine failure and only one other precautionary shutdown; extreme familiarity with en route airports and terrain; good WX en route; experienced copilot and first officer; engine could have been restarted, and used in the event of another engine failure or emergency; and clogging thought to be related to change in oil type, which had greater detergent additives about which crews had been warned.
