Narrative:
Visibility approach to 29 from 6000' MSL downwind was initiated. ILS used for profile data. Aircraft as on G/south and localizer, speed at reference + 4 or 5 KTS, with power at 1-2+ EPR. Approach was normal to a normal flare and landing. Thereafter vibrations began and intensity magnified until it became obvious that something abnormal was occurring. Tower advised both tires blown, then fire on left side. First officer made the landing. I noticed the feeling of antiskid 'chatter' and told him to get off the brakes. He said he wasn't on the brakes and then commented that it felt like the tires were flat. I took control of aircraft, regained directional control and brought aircraft to stop about 500' from end of runway. Began evacuate/evacuation of aircraft from R1 until fire department informed me fire was out. Then finished evacuating aircraft from airstairs. 1) no injuries. 2) WX: clear 15 wind 160 at 6. 3) damage: left main gear 90 degrees to direction of travel facing outboard.

Title: MLG ACFT BROUGHT TO STOP AFTER LNDG WHEN FLT CREW FELT SCRUBBING OF TIRES.
Narrative: VIS APCH TO 29 FROM 6000' MSL DOWNWIND WAS INITIATED. ILS USED FOR PROFILE DATA. ACFT AS ON G/S AND LOC, SPD AT REF + 4 OR 5 KTS, WITH PWR AT 1-2+ EPR. APCH WAS NORMAL TO A NORMAL FLARE AND LNDG. THEREAFTER VIBRATIONS BEGAN AND INTENSITY MAGNIFIED UNTIL IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT SOMETHING ABNORMAL WAS OCCURRING. TWR ADVISED BOTH TIRES BLOWN, THEN FIRE ON LEFT SIDE. F/O MADE THE LNDG. I NOTICED THE FEELING OF ANTISKID 'CHATTER' AND TOLD HIM TO GET OFF THE BRAKES. HE SAID HE WASN'T ON THE BRAKES AND THEN COMMENTED THAT IT FELT LIKE THE TIRES WERE FLAT. I TOOK CONTROL OF ACFT, REGAINED DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND BROUGHT ACFT TO STOP ABOUT 500' FROM END OF RWY. BEGAN EVAC OF ACFT FROM R1 UNTIL FIRE DEPT INFORMED ME FIRE WAS OUT. THEN FINISHED EVACUATING ACFT FROM AIRSTAIRS. 1) NO INJURIES. 2) WX: CLR 15 WIND 160 AT 6. 3) DAMAGE: LEFT MAIN GEAR 90 DEGS TO DIRECTION OF TRAVEL FACING OUTBOARD.
