Narrative:

On initial climb out passing thru approx. 27;000 feet we started to hear a loud noise which initially appeared to be coming from the overhead hatch. The noise continued to get louder and was discovered to becoming from the 1R door. The two relief pilots back on break investigated the area to confirm in was the 1R door in which the noise and now vibration was coming from. The captain contacted maintenance/dispatch and he confirmed that there had been previous issues with this particular aircraft on regarding door 1R. After further discussion with relief pilots who continued to monitor the situation by the door and maintenance; the decision was made to return to [departure airport] versus fly 13 more hours to [our international destination]. An overweight landing was made.
