Narrative:
The active runway on landing at roanoke, va (roa) was runway 15. After a two hour wait the station boarded our passenger for the return flight to raleigh, nc,(rdu). While I was being directed off the gate by the ramp personnel the first officer called ground for taxi. My attention was diverted to the ramp person and turning out of the gate area to the ramp and did not hear the taxi instructions clearly. I assumed we were to taxi to runway 15 crossing the 24-6 runway. During the time we taxied from the ramp onto the parallel taxiway for runway 15 the taxi checklist was accomplished. Approaching the intersection of the taxiway and 24-6 runway I looked left to check for traffic. At that time I heard ground call 'stop stop' and I put on the brakes. When I stopped the nose gear was past the hold line. I looked to the right and there was an small aircraft getting ready to turn left off runway 24 onto the taxiway I was on. Ground then told me to make a hard right turn and proceed to runway 24. When established on the taxiway for runway 24 I asked my first officer what the instructions that ground first gave us. He said to taxi to runway 24. I have relearned to always confirm with my first officer what runway we are supposed to taxi.

Title: ACR SMA FLT CREW DID NOT HEAR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS CORRECTLY. TAXIED ONTO TXWY BEING USED BY ACFT LEAVING RWY.
Narrative: THE ACTIVE RWY ON LNDG AT ROANOKE, VA (ROA) WAS RWY 15. AFTER A TWO HR WAIT THE STATION BOARDED OUR PAX FOR THE RETURN FLT TO RALEIGH, NC,(RDU). WHILE I WAS BEING DIRECTED OFF THE GATE BY THE RAMP PERSONNEL THE F/O CALLED GND FOR TAXI. MY ATTN WAS DIVERTED TO THE RAMP PERSON AND TURNING OUT OF THE GATE AREA TO THE RAMP AND DID NOT HEAR THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS CLRLY. I ASSUMED WE WERE TO TAXI TO RWY 15 XING THE 24-6 RWY. DURING THE TIME WE TAXIED FROM THE RAMP ONTO THE PARALLEL TXWY FOR RWY 15 THE TAXI CHKLIST WAS ACCOMPLISHED. APCHING THE INTXN OF THE TXWY AND 24-6 RWY I LOOKED LEFT TO CHK FOR TFC. AT THAT TIME I HEARD GND CALL 'STOP STOP' AND I PUT ON THE BRAKES. WHEN I STOPPED THE NOSE GEAR WAS PAST THE HOLD LINE. I LOOKED TO THE R AND THERE WAS AN SMA GETTING READY TO TURN L OFF RWY 24 ONTO THE TXWY I WAS ON. GND THEN TOLD ME TO MAKE A HARD R TURN AND PROCEED TO RWY 24. WHEN ESTABLISHED ON THE TXWY FOR RWY 24 I ASKED MY F/O WHAT THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT GND FIRST GAVE US. HE SAID TO TAXI TO RWY 24. I HAVE RELEARNED TO ALWAYS CONFIRM WITH MY F/O WHAT RWY WE ARE SUPPOSED TO TAXI.
