Narrative:
I sent my student on a supervised solo; he has around 26 hours and many flights practicing takeoffs and landings. Today I felt he was ready to do a few solo takeoffs and landings. After doing 7 landings dual together I had us taxi back to the FBO to get out of the plane and allow him to do a few takeoffs and landings. He conducted 2 landings and on his third landing he landed safely but immediately after touchdown he wanted to slow down so he applied his right brake. This caused the aircraft to swerve off of the runway; into the grass; hit a taxi sign; and end up on the paralleling taxiway in the opposite direction. After this event; the following parties assisted: ATC; line workers; maintenance; FBO president; airport maintenance; and phone calls with the FAA. No further information has been given.
