Narrative:
Normal takeoff. After the first turn and heading to the next intersection engine 2 oil quantity started toward zero. A white box was displayed around the eng inst and oil quantity was down to 10% and dropping. After a quick check with QRH and discussion I had the first pull eng 2 to idle and requested a return to the field. We were given vectors to 7 mile final. We discussed the overweight landing and used flap 40 max break. Touchdown was soft. Appropriate checklists were run returned to gate 23. Logbook write up on overweight landing and low oil quantity eng 2.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: Shortly after takeoff; engine two oil quantity was seen at 10% and decreasing so the thrust lever was closed as per the QRH and a return to land followed for uneventful overweight landing.
