Narrative:
We were level at 8000' receiving vectors from denver final approach control to the ILS DME 1 17L at den. Airspeed 170 KTS. We were in and out of the cloud bases at 8000'. We had received and acknowledged an assigned heading of 120 degree with no instructions to intercept the localizer. About the time we were crossing the localizer. The first officer noticed traffic (an medium large transport) at our 9 O'clock position headed toward us (his heading appeared to be approximately 190 degree or 200 degree). He appeared to be within 1 mi. The first officer asked the controller about the traffic at 9 O'clock. The controller replied that there was 'no traffic' at 9 O'clock to us. The traffic that we saw then radioed that he had the traffic (us) at 10 O'clock as he was passing behind us. The controller mentioned that we were supposed to intercept the localizer, but we had not received or acknowledged such a clearance. We maintained heading 120 degree and passed clear and approach broke us out and vectored us for another ILS.

Title: ACR BEING VECTORED TO FINAL APCH SEES TRAFFIC WHICH APCH SAYS IS NOT THEE. VECTORED FOR ANOTHER ILS APCH.
Narrative: WE WERE LEVEL AT 8000' RECEIVING VECTORS FROM DENVER FINAL APCH CTL TO THE ILS DME 1 17L AT DEN. AIRSPEED 170 KTS. WE WERE IN AND OUT OF THE CLOUD BASES AT 8000'. WE HAD RECEIVED AND ACKNOWLEDGED AN ASSIGNED HDG OF 120 DEG WITH NO INSTRUCTIONS TO INTERCEPT THE LOC. ABOUT THE TIME WE WERE XING THE LOC. THE F/O NOTICED TFC (AN MLG) AT OUR 9 O'CLOCK POSITION HEADED TOWARD US (HIS HDG APPEARED TO BE APPROX 190 DEG OR 200 DEG). HE APPEARED TO BE WITHIN 1 MI. THE F/O ASKED THE CTLR ABOUT THE TFC AT 9 O'CLOCK. THE CTLR REPLIED THAT THERE WAS 'NO TFC' AT 9 O'CLOCK TO US. THE TFC THAT WE SAW THEN RADIOED THAT HE HAD THE TFC (US) AT 10 O'CLOCK AS HE WAS PASSING BEHIND US. THE CTLR MENTIONED THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO INTERCEPT THE LOC, BUT WE HAD NOT RECEIVED OR ACKNOWLEDGED SUCH A CLRNC. WE MAINTAINED HDG 120 DEG AND PASSED CLEAR AND APCH BROKE US OUT AND VECTORED US FOR ANOTHER ILS.
