Narrative:

We had been pushed back from the handstand gate and were holding at the zipper road that passes across the end of the alleyway prior to taxiway a. We had just been cleared to taxi onto taxiway a and I had turned on the taxi light; released the brake and started rolling. Just then; a black suv pulled out onto the road from the alleyway; and accelerated across our path. I lost sight of the vehicle as he passed under our nose from my viewpoint. I slammed on the brakes and stopped the aircraft which was not moving more than a few knots at the time. After the first vehicle cleared the aircraft; I again cleared the path to the left and started to move again. It was at this time that a second suv; which had been stopped against the retaining wall on the north side of the ramp; turned and also accelerated across our path. Neither vehicle had any flashing lights; nor were they marked or escorting emergency vehicles. The first officer reported the incident to the ground controller; he responded that he would report it.I may be preaching from the pulpit; but this was sheer recklessness on behalf of the two people driving vehicles. It placed an entire aircraft with [numerous] souls and 30;000 lbs of fuel in serious peril; as well as placing their own lives at risk. At a minimum I would suggest that retraining needs to take place; including right of way; defensive driving; and hazardous attitudes. I would love to meet them so they could see the person that they put at risk.

Title: A321 Captain reported having to brake abruptly twice during taxi out at ORD to avoid collision with two SUV's driving on the ramp.
