Narrative:

I was the first officer and PNF on flight from pit to hou with a scheduled departure of pm + 30. When the captain and I boarded our medium large transport, maintenance was working on a malfunctioning EPR gauge, thus they had the aircraft log book with them at the time. The log book was not available to us, the crew. The captain and I ran through our preflight checks and checklists. The captain briefed me on the MEL on our flight release which stated 'door warning light aft south.' we noticed the orange MEL sticker on the advisory lights panel. West/O the log book at our disposal, the captain stated the the faulty light must be the 'aft stairway door.' we checked all the lights and they all worked, so we assumed it was intermittent. At this time I got out my aircraft manual and looked up the MEL # on the flight release. The MEL was very general and stated that a door light may be inoperative if the affected door is visually checked closed from ground personnel. At just about pushback the maintenance returned with the log book which MEL'd the left EPR gauge, so we looked up that MEL in the aircraft manual and reviewed that MEL. At this time we closed the cabin door, checked all the door lights out and confirmed with ground personnel that the aft stairway door was closed and began our pushback believing we had checked everything. Start and taxiout were normal. We were cleared for an immediate takeoff on 28L in pit (10000' in length). At about 90 KTS the 'aft galley door' light came on. I called out the captain, 'you have an aft galley door light.' at this time the captain retarded the throttles and commenced a gentle aborted takeoff since we were at a low speed with at least 9000' remaining. The abort was uneventful and we taxied back to the gate and notified company. When the captain met with maintenance back at the gate it was discovered that the actual write-up in the log book stated that the aft galley door light came on during takeoff. When the captain contacted the dispatcher to ask him why he put 'aft south door' on the release, he stated that was for the 'aft service door.' I believe this aborted takeoff was due to an improper MEL description on our flight release, unavailability of the aircraft log book during preflight checks and not thoroughly reviewing log book, even though we received it at the last minute. I also believe an aborted takeoff was the correct action because of our low speed and a caution light coming on that at the time we thought was valid.

Title: ACR MLG ABORTS TKOF WHEN A DOOR LIGHT COMES ON DURING TKOF ROLL.

Narrative: I WAS THE F/O AND PNF ON FLT FROM PIT TO HOU WITH A SCHEDULED DEP OF PM + 30. WHEN THE CAPT AND I BOARDED OUR MLG, MAINT WAS WORKING ON A MALFUNCTIONING EPR GAUGE, THUS THEY HAD THE ACFT LOG BOOK WITH THEM AT THE TIME. THE LOG BOOK WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO US, THE CREW. THE CAPT AND I RAN THROUGH OUR PREFLT CHKS AND CHKLISTS. THE CAPT BRIEFED ME ON THE MEL ON OUR FLT RELEASE WHICH STATED 'DOOR WARNING LIGHT AFT S.' WE NOTICED THE ORANGE MEL STICKER ON THE ADVISORY LIGHTS PANEL. W/O THE LOG BOOK AT OUR DISPOSAL, THE CAPT STATED THE THE FAULTY LIGHT MUST BE THE 'AFT STAIRWAY DOOR.' WE CHKED ALL THE LIGHTS AND THEY ALL WORKED, SO WE ASSUMED IT WAS INTERMITTENT. AT THIS TIME I GOT OUT MY ACFT MANUAL AND LOOKED UP THE MEL # ON THE FLT RELEASE. THE MEL WAS VERY GENERAL AND STATED THAT A DOOR LIGHT MAY BE INOP IF THE AFFECTED DOOR IS VISUALLY CHKED CLOSED FROM GND PERSONNEL. AT JUST ABOUT PUSHBACK THE MAINT RETURNED WITH THE LOG BOOK WHICH MEL'D THE LEFT EPR GAUGE, SO WE LOOKED UP THAT MEL IN THE ACFT MANUAL AND REVIEWED THAT MEL. AT THIS TIME WE CLOSED THE CABIN DOOR, CHKED ALL THE DOOR LIGHTS OUT AND CONFIRMED WITH GND PERSONNEL THAT THE AFT STAIRWAY DOOR WAS CLOSED AND BEGAN OUR PUSHBACK BELIEVING WE HAD CHKED EVERYTHING. START AND TAXIOUT WERE NORMAL. WE WERE CLRED FOR AN IMMEDIATE TKOF ON 28L IN PIT (10000' IN LENGTH). AT ABOUT 90 KTS THE 'AFT GALLEY DOOR' LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED OUT THE CAPT, 'YOU HAVE AN AFT GALLEY DOOR LIGHT.' AT THIS TIME THE CAPT RETARDED THE THROTTLES AND COMMENCED A GENTLE ABORTED TKOF SINCE WE WERE AT A LOW SPD WITH AT LEAST 9000' REMAINING. THE ABORT WAS UNEVENTFUL AND WE TAXIED BACK TO THE GATE AND NOTIFIED COMPANY. WHEN THE CAPT MET WITH MAINT BACK AT THE GATE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ACTUAL WRITE-UP IN THE LOG BOOK STATED THAT THE AFT GALLEY DOOR LIGHT CAME ON DURING TKOF. WHEN THE CAPT CONTACTED THE DISPATCHER TO ASK HIM WHY HE PUT 'AFT S DOOR' ON THE RELEASE, HE STATED THAT WAS FOR THE 'AFT SVC DOOR.' I BELIEVE THIS ABORTED TKOF WAS DUE TO AN IMPROPER MEL DESCRIPTION ON OUR FLT RELEASE, UNAVAILABILITY OF THE ACFT LOG BOOK DURING PREFLT CHKS AND NOT THOROUGHLY REVIEWING LOG BOOK, EVEN THOUGH WE RECEIVED IT AT THE LAST MINUTE. I ALSO BELIEVE AN ABORTED TKOF WAS THE CORRECT ACTION BECAUSE OF OUR LOW SPD AND A CAUTION LIGHT COMING ON THAT AT THE TIME WE THOUGHT WAS VALID.
