Narrative:

This [report] is in reference to aircraft X. This is a new aircraft having approximately 25 hours total time on the airframe at the initiation of this flight. During the preflight check I saw a write up stating that the airplane needed a permanent registration. I also saw a subsequent entry showing the aircraft being released for revenue services. I took this to mean the registration issues were handled and the plane was good to go. After landing in tjbq I was notified that the permanent registration was not installed and that meant the airplane was only authorized to operate in the lower 48 states. Human errorinstead of assuming that since the aircraft was dispatched and released for revenue service it was ok to go it would have been wiser to have contacted the dispatcher for a more thorough discussion of the registration issues.
