Narrative:
I exited the jet way to do my post flight walk around. I noticed smoke coming out of the #2 engine. I then looked at the engine closer when a 2 -3 foot fireball blew out of the tail cone. A fire then developed in the tail cone. I instructed the fueler to leave the area as well as the rampers. I immediately ran back to the L1 door and told lead flight attendant to 'get everyone off now.' I then told the captain to pull the handle and call crash fire rescue; the #2 engine is on fire. 15 - 20 people were still on board and exited up the jet way. Once the passengers were safe; I went back outside to keep airport vehicles/people away from the airplane. Fire department arrived and used a water cannon to extinguish flames.a message needs to be sent to all crews reminding them that even if the parking checklist is completed; the flight is not over until the last passenger has deplaned.
