Narrative:
While on approach with landing clearance to runway xy at ZZZ; approximately 2 mile final; TCAS issued a 'traffic' alert and showed a contact directly below our aircraft and climbing. No visual contact was established due to the relative positions of the aircraft. TCAS then issued a 'climb' advisory. As neither tower notification/advisement was received nor visual contact established; the pilot flying called for a 'go around'. During the execution of the procedure; tower asked if we were responding to an RA. The pilot monitoring replied 'affirmative' and instructions were issued to make left closed traffic and landing clearance was reconfirmed. Tower further advised; 'I told him to stay behind you.' the flight landed uneventfully.tower should have directly advised our aircraft that a helicopter was departing [a local] hospital which is in line with the final approach corridor of the landing runway.
