Narrative:
I flew into rvsm airspace prior to receiving a letter of authorization (LOA) from the FAA. I was informed by the dealer from whom I acquired the plane; that they had completed the rvsm paperwork requirements with the local flight standards district office. I had also recently completed the required training course and successfully passed the online rvsm test; and submitted it. While receiving flight training in transition training to the tbm; for my new plane; a TBM9; I was informed that a recent decision by the FAA had changed the requirement froma) having a letter of authorization from the FAA prior to flying in rvsm; tob) having submitted all of the requirements; but not necessarily in receipt of LOA from the FAA.I had confirmation that the submittal requirements were completed; but did not have an LOA. On [date]; and perhaps another time; I flew into rvsm airspace. Recently I was informed that the information I received from my flight instructor may have been inaccurate and that an LOA is required.
