Narrative:
I took off at dawn in a twin engine small transport on an IFR flight from mlc to sat. I levelled off at 8000' and had been in cruise for 10-15 mins when right engine sputtered a little and the right fuel flow fluctuated. Engine gauges indicated normal. This continued about 30 seconds and stopped for about 2-3 mins. Then there was a 'pop' from the right engine and oil began running from the spinner area back along the engine nacelle. I shut down and secured the right engine, advised ATC, and asked where the nearest airport was. ATC gave me a heading to the nearest airport and a clearance to descend to 6500'. I did not declare an emergency and elected to fly to dal approximately 80 mi south. I was on top of a solid overcast, and unfamiliar with airport, approachs and facs at the airport ATC said was closest. I was familiar with dal, and I felt the flight could continue safely to dal. Dal also had precision approachs, a tower, emergency vehicles, maintenance, etc. ATC asked if I could maintain 6500' to keep in radar contact. I was unable to maintain that altitude, however I was able to maintain 5000' still on top of the overcast. I continued to dal on 1 engine, executed and INS approach and landed west/O further incident. I was also able to taxi to park unassisted.

Title: ENGINE FAILURE IN SMT.
Narrative: I TOOK OFF AT DAWN IN A TWIN ENG SMT ON AN IFR FLT FROM MLC TO SAT. I LEVELLED OFF AT 8000' AND HAD BEEN IN CRUISE FOR 10-15 MINS WHEN RIGHT ENG SPUTTERED A LITTLE AND THE RIGHT FUEL FLOW FLUCTUATED. ENG GAUGES INDICATED NORMAL. THIS CONTINUED ABOUT 30 SECS AND STOPPED FOR ABOUT 2-3 MINS. THEN THERE WAS A 'POP' FROM THE RIGHT ENG AND OIL BEGAN RUNNING FROM THE SPINNER AREA BACK ALONG THE ENG NACELLE. I SHUT DOWN AND SECURED THE RIGHT ENG, ADVISED ATC, AND ASKED WHERE THE NEAREST ARPT WAS. ATC GAVE ME A HDG TO THE NEAREST ARPT AND A CLRNC TO DSND TO 6500'. I DID NOT DECLARE AN EMER AND ELECTED TO FLY TO DAL APPROX 80 MI S. I WAS ON TOP OF A SOLID OVCST, AND UNFAMILIAR WITH ARPT, APCHS AND FACS AT THE ARPT ATC SAID WAS CLOSEST. I WAS FAMILIAR WITH DAL, AND I FELT THE FLT COULD CONTINUE SAFELY TO DAL. DAL ALSO HAD PRECISION APCHS, A TWR, EMER VEHICLES, MAINT, ETC. ATC ASKED IF I COULD MAINTAIN 6500' TO KEEP IN RADAR CONTACT. I WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN THAT ALT, HOWEVER I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN 5000' STILL ON TOP OF THE OVCST. I CONTINUED TO DAL ON 1 ENG, EXECUTED AND INS APCH AND LANDED W/O FURTHER INCIDENT. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO TAXI TO PARK UNASSISTED.
