Narrative:
Were inbound to indianapolis from champaign, when noticed smoke in cockpit. Investigation revealed smoke to be coming from around edges of windshield. Turned off windshield heat and smoke seemed to dissipate. At this point ATC reported four mi from VOR. At this point I advised ATC we had some smoke in cockpit and requested minimum vectoring. Proceeded inbound and landed at indianapolis west/O further incident.

Title: TRACK DEVIATION. SMOKE IN COCKPIT.
Narrative: WERE INBND TO INDIANAPOLIS FROM CHAMPAIGN, WHEN NOTICED SMOKE IN COCKPIT. INVESTIGATION REVEALED SMOKE TO BE COMING FROM AROUND EDGES OF WINDSHIELD. TURNED OFF WINDSHIELD HEAT AND SMOKE SEEMED TO DISSIPATE. AT THIS POINT ATC RPTED FOUR MI FROM VOR. AT THIS POINT I ADVISED ATC WE HAD SOME SMOKE IN COCKPIT AND REQUESTED MINIMUM VECTORING. PROCEEDED INBND AND LANDED AT INDIANAPOLIS W/O FURTHER INCIDENT.
