Doing a line check and noted the low state of charge (32%) and the non-original equipment manufacturer (oem) cord being used from the cockpit power plug.crew member insisted he started the trip at 100% and the one leg depleted his ipad to this level. I have no reason to doubt him. I do have huge concerns that the ipad is not up to the demands we are placing on it and the rush to remove QRH's will aggravate the problem. Note that this non-oem cord is sold as an apple-approved device; but; it's not an apple oem part. This cord is exceptionally long and will reach completely across the cockpit.
