Narrative:
Climbing through 13500' we saw an aircraft at less than 1/2 mi beginning a northbound turn. Departure control was talking to small transport Y we later determined was our observed traffic. Departure then told us we had small transport Y traffic at 14000' turning northbound. Our cleared altitude was 14000'. He was less than 1/2 mi and really looked big. ATC did not pointout traffic prior to conflict.
