Narrative:
Near the beginning of cruise, a duct/avionics compartment over heat light illuminated. Accomplished abnormal procedure for same and trim air inoperative. With no out of the ordinary indications in the air condition or pneumatic system', we received a call from a F/a that zone C was filling full of smoke. We initiated emergency air conditioning smoke procedure and returned to lax. Smoke was fully removed from cabin in 3 or 4 mins and had no reoccurrence. Dumped 30000 pounds of fuel to maximum gross landing weight.
