Narrative:
I was flying in left seat as captain, copilot (part-timer) was in right seat flying the aircraft. I was handling radios. We were VFR into hayward, ca. Boy handed us off to tower. I reported our position as southeast and tower told us to enter a right base for runway 28L. I replied that we were better set up for a straight-in or right base entry. Tower told us to report a 5 mi final for runway 28L. I then became totally immersed in instructing this copilot and never made a call at 5 mi. We subsequently landed and tower told us to exit the runway, contact ground and then telephone tower. I told them we were a quick turn and could I call them from our final destination. At that time the ground controller told me they just wanted to advise me that I had landed west/O a clearance. I was too shocked to even reply. I didn't realize until then what had happened. I had recently gone through some serious personal problem which resulted im my wife and I separating. Due to those circumstances, I was under a lot of stress and emotional strain. I, as chief pilot, took myself off of flying for 3 weeks until things stabilized and I felt my mind was on my work when it needed to be. Although I felt I was 100 percent into the flight, this incident proved otherwise.

Title: CAPT OF CORPORATE TURBOPROP FORGETS TO ADVISE HWD OF 5 MILE FINAL AS ISTRUCTED BECAUSE HE WAS DISTR BY PROVIDING TRAINING FOR A NEW FO. ACFT LANDS WITHOUT LNDG CLRNC.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING IN LEFT SEAT AS CAPT, COPLT (PART-TIMER) WAS IN RIGHT SEAT FLYING THE ACFT. I WAS HANDLING RADIOS. WE WERE VFR INTO HAYWARD, CA. BOY HANDED US OFF TO TWR. I RPTED OUR POS AS SE AND TWR TOLD US TO ENTER A RIGHT BASE FOR RWY 28L. I REPLIED THAT WE WERE BETTER SET UP FOR A STRAIGHT-IN OR RIGHT BASE ENTRY. TWR TOLD US TO RPT A 5 MI FINAL FOR RWY 28L. I THEN BECAME TOTALLY IMMERSED IN INSTRUCTING THIS COPLT AND NEVER MADE A CALL AT 5 MI. WE SUBSEQUENTLY LANDED AND TWR TOLD US TO EXIT THE RWY, CONTACT GND AND THEN TELEPHONE TWR. I TOLD THEM WE WERE A QUICK TURN AND COULD I CALL THEM FROM OUR FINAL DEST. AT THAT TIME THE GND CTLR TOLD ME THEY JUST WANTED TO ADVISE ME THAT I HAD LANDED W/O A CLRNC. I WAS TOO SHOCKED TO EVEN REPLY. I DIDN'T REALIZE UNTIL THEN WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I HAD RECENTLY GONE THROUGH SOME SERIOUS PERSONAL PROB WHICH RESULTED IM MY WIFE AND I SEPARATING. DUE TO THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES, I WAS UNDER A LOT OF STRESS AND EMOTIONAL STRAIN. I, AS CHIEF PLT, TOOK MYSELF OFF OF FLYING FOR 3 WEEKS UNTIL THINGS STABILIZED AND I FELT MY MIND WAS ON MY WORK WHEN IT NEEDED TO BE. ALTHOUGH I FELT I WAS 100 PERCENT INTO THE FLT, THIS INCIDENT PROVED OTHERWISE.
