Narrative:

Flying on activated VFR flight plan from eureka to florence, or. En route receiving radar advisories because solid undercast (not forecast). Got a pop-up IFR clearance from ZSE to local NAVAID (oth). When under and clear of clouds, and in vicinity of destination, cancelled IFR and landed. Thought center, once giving an IFR flight plan, cancelled VFR flight plan. They don't. Mckinville radio called destination airport, which reported my aircraft on ground. I'm now educated, but think that less frequent pilots need to know that ATC and FSS don't necessarily communicate with each other re: flight plans.
