Narrative:

During cruise with autoplt engaged, we heard several aircraft deviating for WX. Nothing was painting on our radar. We began to encounter turbulence accompanied with static discharge display. The engine anti-ice was selected after the ignitors were turned on. The aircraft began to climb and increase airspeed from .76 mach to .80 mach and subsequently the autoplt was disengaged. Aircraft was 300' off assigned altitude while I was trying to maintain constant attitude (altitude alert went off). Controller never queried us re: altitude. Flight landed in avl west/O further incident.
