Narrative:
I was working in the bag room; taking bags out of the lateral; when a bad smell came out of one of the bags. It made me nauseous instantly; my mouth got watery and salty; I went to the bathroom [and] I felt like I was about to throw up. Supervisor was in the bathroom; asked me if I was ok; I said no and explained what happened. I was still feeling sick [so] I went to the sink to put water on my face when my feet got real itchy. I took my shoes off [and] scratched my feet when they started to swell. All of a sudden my whole body started itching. I looked in the mirror my face and ears were also swollen; a rash on my back; neck; and stomach appeared. I went to the supervisor's office showed her what was happening; she called to have someone take me to [a medical facility]. I was getting worse [so] she decided to take me herself. We walked to the elevator [and] that's when I felt like I was about to pass out; so she walked me back into the break room where I started to feel like I couldn't catch my breath. 911 was called. Paramedics couldn't get a blood pressure or pulse. I was taken to the er where I was treated. I feel some of this bags need to be wrapped in plastic or some kind of wrapping to avoid the dust and the liquids that come through and/or flies of these international bags.
