Narrative:
We were on an ILS approach to baltimore's runway 10. I was PIC. The pilot in the right seat was preparing for a part 135 check ride later in the week. During the ILS, I simulated the failure of one engine. The trnee's response to this was not very satisfactory and consumed my attention. At some point after we were cleared for the approach but before we were turned over to the tower, my receiver failed as it had done several times throughout the evening. Whenever it failed, I was able to restore its operation by turning it off momentarily. However, this time I was distraction and never noticed the failure. I never heard the approach controller turn me over to the tower and because of my preoccupation with the simulated engine failure, did not think to call the tower myself. We continued the approach and made a normal landing west/O further incident. When I called the tower for taxi clearance, I realized I had not spoken to him prior to landing. Because it was X:00 am, no other traffic was on or near the airport and the tower controller graciously excused my actions.

Title: ATX SMT UNAUTH LNDG AT BWI.
Narrative: WE WERE ON AN ILS APCH TO BALTIMORE'S RWY 10. I WAS PIC. THE PLT IN THE R SEAT WAS PREPARING FOR A PART 135 CHK RIDE LATER IN THE WK. DURING THE ILS, I SIMULATED THE FAILURE OF ONE ENG. THE TRNEE'S RESPONSE TO THIS WAS NOT VERY SATISFACTORY AND CONSUMED MY ATTN. AT SOME POINT AFTER WE WERE CLRED FOR THE APCH BUT BEFORE WE WERE TURNED OVER TO THE TWR, MY RECEIVER FAILED AS IT HAD DONE SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE EVENING. WHENEVER IT FAILED, I WAS ABLE TO RESTORE ITS OPERATION BY TURNING IT OFF MOMENTARILY. HOWEVER, THIS TIME I WAS DISTR AND NEVER NOTICED THE FAILURE. I NEVER HEARD THE APCH CTLR TURN ME OVER TO THE TWR AND BECAUSE OF MY PREOCCUPATION WITH THE SIMULATED ENG FAILURE, DID NOT THINK TO CALL THE TWR MYSELF. WE CONTINUED THE APCH AND MADE A NORMAL LNDG W/O FURTHER INCIDENT. WHEN I CALLED THE TWR FOR TAXI CLRNC, I REALIZED I HAD NOT SPOKEN TO HIM PRIOR TO LNDG. BECAUSE IT WAS X:00 AM, NO OTHER TFC WAS ON OR NEAR THE ARPT AND THE TWR CTLR GRACIOUSLY EXCUSED MY ACTIONS.
