Narrative:
Clear to descend the hlywd 1 arrival. At FL280 we were hit with wake turbulence; it was brief; one thump. The aircraft in front of us was also [a] B757 at FL260 and 8 miles ahead. I asked socal [and] he told me what type and how far. I called in the back to make sure everybody was ok. [One] flight attendant bumped her shoulder. She said she was ok.
