Narrative:
Solo x-country flight from tvf to pmb. Upon landing, in the landing rollout the airplane suddenly swerved to the left. The speed I was traveling caused the aircraft to roll off the 50' runway and strike a runway light with the propeller. The impact produced a nick in the leading edge of the propeller and damaged the runway light. The runway grass alongside the runway is also used for landing. Due to an unfamiliarity with the airport and a strong wind gust during the landing rollout, I was unable to correct the landing roll due to the narrow runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SMA SWERVES OFF RWY DURING LNDG AND PROPELLER STRIKES A RWY LIGHT.
Narrative: SOLO X-COUNTRY FLT FROM TVF TO PMB. UPON LNDG, IN THE LNDG ROLLOUT THE AIRPLANE SUDDENLY SWERVED TO THE L. THE SPD I WAS TRAVELING CAUSED THE ACFT TO ROLL OFF THE 50' RWY AND STRIKE A RWY LIGHT WITH THE PROP. THE IMPACT PRODUCED A NICK IN THE LEADING EDGE OF THE PROP AND DAMAGED THE RWY LIGHT. THE RWY GRASS ALONGSIDE THE RWY IS ALSO USED FOR LNDG. DUE TO AN UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE ARPT AND A STRONG WIND GUST DURING THE LNDG ROLLOUT, I WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE LNDG ROLL DUE TO THE NARROW RWY.
