Narrative:
After arriving at VFR initial point I called, 'wright-patterson tower, small aircraft (X) at point alpha with the ATIS.' wpafb tower responded, report right base runway 5R. At right base to runway 5R I contacted tower with, small aircraft X right base runway 5R. I observed small aircraft Y over runway 5L on left base to runway 5R and watched him do touch and go's on runway 5R. Next I observed small transport Z over runway 5L below me and moving to runway 5R as I began to turn final to runway 5R. I advised tower that there was an aircraft below me and that I was making a 360 turn to the right. Tower asked me to turn to left which I did. I rolled out above the right edge of runway 5L and when tower advised me that an small transport Z was on final to runway 5R, I replied that I had him in sight. The small transport Z was above me and several mi away. I continued flying down wind along the edge of runway 5L until small transport Z passed me on my left at 300-400' AGL (approximately 1 1/2-2 min after my rollout over edge of runway 5L). The tower queried my intentions and I told him, left turn and landing runway 5R. Wpafb then cleared me and I made a long landing on runway 5R. Subsequently, I was told by aeronautical club manager that the control tower tape did not agree with my actions. First after advising me to right base, the tower corrected himself to midfield. Next when I reported right base the tape indicates I said 'small aircraft X right base for runway 5L!' the tower then moved small transport Z to runway 5R assuming that I was headed for runway 5L. When I reported final on runway 5R with an aircraft below, he indicated I should proceed upwind along edge of runway 5R. When I reported my 360 to right, he indicated I was cleared to runway 5L. After I was over right edge of runway 5L, tower advised of small transport Z and right turn.

Title: TRAFFIC PATTERN AND CLRNC CONFUSION FOR SMA PLT AT FFO.
Narrative: AFTER ARRIVING AT VFR INITIAL POINT I CALLED, 'WRIGHT-PATTERSON TWR, SMA (X) AT POINT ALPHA WITH THE ATIS.' WPAFB TWR RESPONDED, RPT R BASE RWY 5R. AT R BASE TO RWY 5R I CONTACTED TWR WITH, SMA X R BASE RWY 5R. I OBSERVED SMA Y OVER RWY 5L ON L BASE TO RWY 5R AND WATCHED HIM DO TOUCH AND GO'S ON RWY 5R. NEXT I OBSERVED SMT Z OVER RWY 5L BELOW ME AND MOVING TO RWY 5R AS I BEGAN TO TURN FINAL TO RWY 5R. I ADVISED TWR THAT THERE WAS AN ACFT BELOW ME AND THAT I WAS MAKING A 360 TURN TO THE R. TWR ASKED ME TO TURN TO L WHICH I DID. I ROLLED OUT ABOVE THE R EDGE OF RWY 5L AND WHEN TWR ADVISED ME THAT AN SMT Z WAS ON FINAL TO RWY 5R, I REPLIED THAT I HAD HIM IN SIGHT. THE SMT Z WAS ABOVE ME AND SEVERAL MI AWAY. I CONTINUED FLYING DOWN WIND ALONG THE EDGE OF RWY 5L UNTIL SMT Z PASSED ME ON MY L AT 300-400' AGL (APPROX 1 1/2-2 MIN AFTER MY ROLLOUT OVER EDGE OF RWY 5L). THE TWR QUERIED MY INTENTIONS AND I TOLD HIM, L TURN AND LNDG RWY 5R. WPAFB THEN CLRED ME AND I MADE A LONG LNDG ON RWY 5R. SUBSEQUENTLY, I WAS TOLD BY AERO CLUB MGR THAT THE CTL TWR TAPE DID NOT AGREE WITH MY ACTIONS. FIRST AFTER ADVISING ME TO R BASE, THE TWR CORRECTED HIMSELF TO MIDFIELD. NEXT WHEN I RPTED R BASE THE TAPE INDICATES I SAID 'SMA X R BASE FOR RWY 5L!' THE TWR THEN MOVED SMT Z TO RWY 5R ASSUMING THAT I WAS HEADED FOR RWY 5L. WHEN I RPTED FINAL ON RWY 5R WITH AN ACFT BELOW, HE INDICATED I SHOULD PROCEED UPWIND ALONG EDGE OF RWY 5R. WHEN I RPTED MY 360 TO R, HE INDICATED I WAS CLRED TO RWY 5L. AFTER I WAS OVER R EDGE OF RWY 5L, TWR ADVISED OF SMT Z AND R TURN.
