Narrative:
Departed runway 20R at bna. Tower issued a climb clearance of runway heading until 01 (one) DME of the bna VORTAC, then right turn to a heading of 250 degree. The turn at 1 DME is for noise abatement. The heading of 250 degree directs aircraft in a straight line (track) towards the highest obstruction in the area, antennas reaching a height of 2049' (MSL). In their quest for noise dispersal, the nashville airport authority, and the FAA, have created a potentially hazardous situation. When operating in the optimal environment of day, VFR, and all system normal; the towers can be avoided by the cautious pilot. The towers are a real hazard when any part of the operating environment is degraded. I recommended that the initial departure heading be changed so that aircraft would be directed away from the 2049' MSL antennas. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information. Nashville airport authority had a tough time getting the airport approved and built and since it has become a hub and much busier than former yrs the people that have built around the airport are very active in promoting 'noise dispersal'. This undoubtedly sponsored the recent departure instructions. Believe the instructions I received are a new thing. I do not know if the tower controller had an option in bad WX or not. I believe they should give the flight crews an alert or warning regarding the towers when they give the turn to 220 degree after departure.

Title: REPORTER PROTESTS VECTOR TOWARD TWRS 1500' ABOVE ARPT ELEVATION. TWRS LOCATED APPROX 8 - 9 MI FROM ARPT.
Narrative: DEPARTED RWY 20R AT BNA. TWR ISSUED A CLB CLRNC OF RWY HDG UNTIL 01 (ONE) DME OF THE BNA VORTAC, THEN R TURN TO A HDG OF 250 DEG. THE TURN AT 1 DME IS FOR NOISE ABATEMENT. THE HDG OF 250 DEG DIRECTS ACFT IN A STRAIGHT LINE (TRACK) TOWARDS THE HIGHEST OBSTRUCTION IN THE AREA, ANTENNAS REACHING A HEIGHT OF 2049' (MSL). IN THEIR QUEST FOR NOISE DISPERSAL, THE NASHVILLE ARPT AUTHORITY, AND THE FAA, HAVE CREATED A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. WHEN OPERATING IN THE OPTIMAL ENVIRONMENT OF DAY, VFR, AND ALL SYS NORMAL; THE TWRS CAN BE AVOIDED BY THE CAUTIOUS PLT. THE TWRS ARE A REAL HAZARD WHEN ANY PART OF THE OPERATING ENVIRONMENT IS DEGRADED. I RECOMMENDED THAT THE INITIAL DEP HDG BE CHANGED SO THAT ACFT WOULD BE DIRECTED AWAY FROM THE 2049' MSL ANTENNAS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO. NASHVILLE ARPT AUTHORITY HAD A TOUGH TIME GETTING THE ARPT APPROVED AND BUILT AND SINCE IT HAS BECOME A HUB AND MUCH BUSIER THAN FORMER YRS THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE BUILT AROUND THE ARPT ARE VERY ACTIVE IN PROMOTING 'NOISE DISPERSAL'. THIS UNDOUBTEDLY SPONSORED THE RECENT DEP INSTRUCTIONS. BELIEVE THE INSTRUCTIONS I RECEIVED ARE A NEW THING. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE TWR CTLR HAD AN OPTION IN BAD WX OR NOT. I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD GIVE THE FLT CREWS AN ALERT OR WARNING REGARDING THE TWRS WHEN THEY GIVE THE TURN TO 220 DEG AFTER DEP.
