Narrative:
I was flying with my instructor; about to turn towards the airport and land; when a beechcraft passed us from above and to the right with less than 100 feet of clearance. [My instructor] grabbed the controls and took evasive action immediately after another aircraft radioed us to warn of our proximity to the beechcraft. After landing; the pilot who acted with negligence was identified...however I was told not to 'make a big deal about it' because [the pilot] was an official of some sort.
