Narrative:
The sjc tower had adopted procedures to clear aircraft for 'immediate takeoff,' and request the expeditious exiting of the active runway after landing as routine traffic management in periods of high traffic vol. These procedures, particularly when used routinely, suggest marginal sep. And, when used routinely and frequently, may condition the pilot to ignore a truly marginal or urgent situation should 1 develop.

Title: ROUTINE USE OF EXPEDITIOUS COMPLIANCE PROCS BY ATC CTLRS.
Narrative: THE SJC TWR HAD ADOPTED PROCS TO CLR ACFT FOR 'IMMEDIATE TKOF,' AND REQUEST THE EXPEDITIOUS EXITING OF THE ACTIVE RWY AFTER LNDG AS ROUTINE TFC MGMNT IN PERIODS OF HIGH TFC VOL. THESE PROCS, PARTICULARLY WHEN USED ROUTINELY, SUGGEST MARGINAL SEP. AND, WHEN USED ROUTINELY AND FREQUENTLY, MAY CONDITION THE PLT TO IGNORE A TRULY MARGINAL OR URGENT SITUATION SHOULD 1 DEVELOP.
