Narrative:
Small transport was approaching mcn from southwest at 10000'. Small aircraft departed 54A requesting clearance to pdk. (54A is airport southwest of mcn). Small aircraft was issued IFR clearance to pdk via direct trbow. Tuckr, pdk assigned 090 degree heading for his climb and told to climb and maintain 9000'. Small transport went into the main bang of the radar and his beacon dropped. I was distraction by other aircraft and didn't see small transport's tag. I handed small aircraft off to sinca sector at atl center. Small aircraft was approximately 5 mi southeast of mcn when he was cleared direct trbow (the mcn 359042), climbed to 10000' and switched to the center. When small transport retagged and I realized there would be a loss of sep, I told small transport to 'turn left heading 270 degree, immediately. When traffic was no longer a factor, I instructed small transport to rejoin V323 and cleared him so the smarr intersection for intrail spacing for atl approach. When small transport was cleared V323 after mcn, I had anticipated course divergence sep as described 7110.65 5-73. Due to small transport's rate of turn after the VORTAC, the courses did not diverge as planned.

Title: DEP CTLR CLIMB ACFT INTO ANOTHER ACFT WHICH RESULTED ON LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION.
Narrative: SMT WAS APCHING MCN FROM SW AT 10000'. SMA DEPARTED 54A REQUESTING CLRNC TO PDK. (54A IS ARPT SW OF MCN). SMA WAS ISSUED IFR CLRNC TO PDK VIA DIRECT TRBOW. TUCKR, PDK ASSIGNED 090 DEG HDG FOR HIS CLB AND TOLD TO CLB AND MAINTAIN 9000'. SMT WENT INTO THE MAIN BANG OF THE RADAR AND HIS BEACON DROPPED. I WAS DISTR BY OTHER ACFT AND DIDN'T SEE SMT'S TAG. I HANDED SMA OFF TO SINCA SECTOR AT ATL CTR. SMA WAS APPROX 5 MI SE OF MCN WHEN HE WAS CLRED DIRECT TRBOW (THE MCN 359042), CLBED TO 10000' AND SWITCHED TO THE CTR. WHEN SMT RETAGGED AND I REALIZED THERE WOULD BE A LOSS OF SEP, I TOLD SMT TO 'TURN L HDG 270 DEG, IMMEDIATELY. WHEN TFC WAS NO LONGER A FACTOR, I INSTRUCTED SMT TO REJOIN V323 AND CLRED HIM SO THE SMARR INTXN FOR INTRAIL SPACING FOR ATL APCH. WHEN SMT WAS CLRED V323 AFTER MCN, I HAD ANTICIPATED COURSE DIVERGENCE SEP AS DESCRIBED 7110.65 5-73. DUE TO SMT'S RATE OF TURN AFTER THE VORTAC, THE COURSES DID NOT DIVERGE AS PLANNED.
