Narrative:

After takeoff master warning illuminated showing tail compartment temperature overheat light on. Emergency, abnormal and normal procedures followed. Returned to tpa making an overweight landing. Maintenance checked aircraft and found no evidence of problem, very high temperatures on ground were believed to contribute to problem. Maintenance returned aircraft to service. Aircraft departed again and once again master warning and tail compartment temperature high light illuminated. Emergency, abnormal and normal checklists completed, returned to tpa and made an overweight landing. High temperatures caused maintenance and flight crew to not pursue cause of problem as well as should have been done. A full power runup should have been performed the first time aircraft was returned in an effort to discover problem. Desire to get aircraft back on schedule and the ease of blaming the warm WX resulted in second return and subsequent discovery of missing gasket in bleed air line.

Title: ACR MLG FLT CREW EXPERIENCES REAR EQUIPMENT BAY OVERHEAT AFTER TKOF.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF MASTER WARNING ILLUMINATED SHOWING TAIL COMPARTMENT TEMP OVERHEAT LIGHT ON. EMER, ABNORMAL AND NORMAL PROCS FOLLOWED. RETURNED TO TPA MAKING AN OVERWEIGHT LNDG. MAINT CHKED ACFT AND FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF PROB, VERY HIGH TEMPS ON GND WERE BELIEVED TO CONTRIBUTE TO PROB. MAINT RETURNED ACFT TO SVC. ACFT DEPARTED AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN MASTER WARNING AND TAIL COMPARTMENT TEMP HIGH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. EMER, ABNORMAL AND NORMAL CHKLISTS COMPLETED, RETURNED TO TPA AND MADE AN OVERWEIGHT LNDG. HIGH TEMPS CAUSED MAINT AND FLT CREW TO NOT PURSUE CAUSE OF PROB AS WELL AS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE. A FULL PWR RUNUP SHOULD HAVE BEEN PERFORMED THE FIRST TIME ACFT WAS RETURNED IN AN EFFORT TO DISCOVER PROB. DESIRE TO GET ACFT BACK ON SCHEDULE AND THE EASE OF BLAMING THE WARM WX RESULTED IN SECOND RETURN AND SUBSEQUENT DISCOVERY OF MISSING GASKET IN BLEED AIR LINE.
