Narrative:

The tower requested flight to exit at taxiway echo and proceed across 6 left and taxi via ramp to gate. After fully retarding the throttles (power levers) and with the first officer receiving taxi instructions from the tower, I turned to taxi up taxiway echo, at which point I advanced the power levers and saw a rapid rise and a momentary overtemp on the engine temperature gauges. At that time I immediately closed the power levers and selected ground fine pitch. The temperatures cooled rapidly and we taxied in, west/O further incident. After shutdown I physically pulled the propellers through and visly inspected the engines, seeing no outward signs of damage I went immediately to the maintenance supervisor and reported the incident. Both the supervisor and myself proceeded to make the appropriate phone calls to system control, maintenance control, lead captain etc.
