Narrative:

A multieng student and I were practicing lndgs on prescott's love field runway 03. We were on approximately our fifth pattern when the incident happened. Our small aircraft X was assigned left traffic for runway 3 for our touch and goes. An small aircraft Y entered right traffic for runway 03 on a 45 degree entry leg. We were approximately abeam each other on opp downwinds with our small aircraft Y being slightly ahead of the other aircraft. The small aircraft Y was advised by tower of our location and told to follow us. My student was flying the aircraft and turned base at the proper point. I believe that as we turned base the small aircraft Y was again informed of our location, however, the pilot must have been disoriented or misunderstood the communication. He turned base at the same point we were. I saw small aircraft Y at our 12 O'clock position and same altitude about 10 seconds before we would have collided. I immediately informed the student that I hd control of the aircraft and then pitched quickly down while entering a 45 degree left hand bank. The aircraft apparently saw us several seconds after the maneuver as he reported us in sight to the tower. Tower instructed him to depart and reenter on the right base.

Title: NMAC ON SHORT FINAL FOR 2 SMA'S AT PRC.

Narrative: A MULTIENG STUDENT AND I WERE PRACTICING LNDGS ON PRESCOTT'S LOVE FIELD RWY 03. WE WERE ON APPROX OUR FIFTH PATTERN WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. OUR SMA X WAS ASSIGNED L TFC FOR RWY 3 FOR OUR TOUCH AND GOES. AN SMA Y ENTERED R TFC FOR RWY 03 ON A 45 DEG ENTRY LEG. WE WERE APPROX ABEAM EACH OTHER ON OPP DOWNWINDS WITH OUR SMA Y BEING SLIGHTLY AHEAD OF THE OTHER ACFT. THE SMA Y WAS ADVISED BY TWR OF OUR LOCATION AND TOLD TO FOLLOW US. MY STUDENT WAS FLYING THE ACFT AND TURNED BASE AT THE PROPER POINT. I BELIEVE THAT AS WE TURNED BASE THE SMA Y WAS AGAIN INFORMED OF OUR LOCATION, HOWEVER, THE PLT MUST HAVE BEEN DISORIENTED OR MISUNDERSTOOD THE COM. HE TURNED BASE AT THE SAME POINT WE WERE. I SAW SMA Y AT OUR 12 O'CLOCK POS AND SAME ALT ABOUT 10 SECS BEFORE WE WOULD HAVE COLLIDED. I IMMEDIATELY INFORMED THE STUDENT THAT I HD CTL OF THE ACFT AND THEN PITCHED QUICKLY DOWN WHILE ENTERING A 45 DEG L HAND BANK. THE ACFT APPARENTLY SAW US SEVERAL SECS AFTER THE MANEUVER AS HE RPTED US IN SIGHT TO THE TWR. TWR INSTRUCTED HIM TO DEPART AND REENTER ON THE R BASE.
