Narrative:
On IFR flight plan cleared on V23 southbound. Approach control asked if we were correcting that he showed us 3 or 4 mi east of arwy centerline. It's to be noted that we had passed beyond the VOR changeover point still tuned to the btg VORTAC and to cvo VORTAC (to get a gndspd check). In addition, we were at the same altitude and on a parallel course about a mi east of an aircraft dropping parachute jumpers into albany airport. However, the lateral error noticed by the controller was primarily the result of remaining tuned to the preceding VORTAC frequency too long.

Title: SMA ON IFR FLT OFF CENTERLINE OF V23.
Narrative: ON IFR FLT PLAN CLRED ON V23 SBND. APCH CTL ASKED IF WE WERE CORRECTING THAT HE SHOWED US 3 OR 4 MI E OF ARWY CTRLINE. IT'S TO BE NOTED THAT WE HAD PASSED BEYOND THE VOR CHANGEOVER POINT STILL TUNED TO THE BTG VORTAC AND TO CVO VORTAC (TO GET A GNDSPD CHK). IN ADDITION, WE WERE AT THE SAME ALT AND ON A PARALLEL COURSE ABOUT A MI E OF AN ACFT DROPPING PARACHUTE JUMPERS INTO ALBANY ARPT. HOWEVER, THE LATERAL ERROR NOTICED BY THE CTLR WAS PRIMARILY THE RESULT OF REMAINING TUNED TO THE PRECEDING VORTAC FREQ TOO LONG.
