Narrative:
Climbing through FL430 on our way to FL450 we noticed the cabin/cockpit was filling with a cloudy haze. We also smelled a hot/oily odor in addition to the cloudy haze. The passengers also noticed the cloudy haze and asked the flight crew about it. The flight crew thought smoke was filling the cabin through the environmental system.1) jacksonville center [was advised].2) flight crew donned oxygen masks and initiated a maximum rate of descent.3) we were approximately 30 miles from ZZZ. We elected to divert to ZZZ.4) the appropriate checklist was completed for environmental smoke. By the time we got to the 'smoke removal' portion of the checklist; all of the cloudy haze had disappeared. The air inside the aircraft was perfectly clear.shortly after making an uneventful landing at ZZZ; we learned that the cloudy haze was possibly caused by water vapor entering the environmental system through the engine. At no time during the flight was the aircraft or any of its occupants in harm's way.
