Narrative:
On VOR approach to runway 16 at pvd, can descend to 1170' inside 5 mi, can descend to MDA inside 3.7 mi. At 4 mi, we had inadvertently already descended to 800' prompting controller to state 'low altitude warning adjust altitude immediately.' we realized and corrected our mistake and continued to landing. I would like to thank the controller for his help, and I'm glad to know the warning system is in place; I'll make every effort not to call it into use again.

Narrative: ON VOR APCH TO RWY 16 AT PVD, CAN DSND TO 1170' INSIDE 5 MI, CAN DSND TO MDA INSIDE 3.7 MI. AT 4 MI, WE HAD INADVERTENTLY ALREADY DSNDED TO 800' PROMPTING CTLR TO STATE 'LOW ALT WARNING ADJUST ALT IMMEDIATELY.' WE REALIZED AND CORRECTED OUR MISTAKE AND CONTINUED TO LNDG. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE CTLR FOR HIS HELP, AND I'M GLAD TO KNOW THE WARNING SYS IS IN PLACE; I'LL MAKE EVERY EFFORT NOT TO CALL IT INTO USE AGAIN.
