Narrative:

Preflight planning included looking at a VFR planning chart (which later turned out to be out of date) and a current sectional (cvg) for a VFR trip from cmh to mkl. Cmh clearance delivery cleared me to york VOR as filed (190 degree and 4500'). Upon climb out at 4300', I saw that I would not be 'on top' and asked the departure controller for higher. He replied altitude at pilots discretion, at which time I continued to 8300'. The controller then handed me off to indy center; same transponder code. Upon radar identify by indy center he informed me that I was in R-5503. He asked if my charts were current. I checked my sectional and it was current until jan 1991, then rechked the planning chart and discovered that it had expired. The controller informed me that R-5503 had been expanded eward and vectored me to the east to exit. Things that would have avoided the excursion, my having caught the expired planning chart date. Cmh departure monitoring the restr area, especially if it has been repositioned or expanded. The light blue color or the boundary on the current sectional chart did not stand out enough, compared to the magenta boundary of the brush creek MOA boundary which was where the old boundary of R-5503 was. Because there was the brighter bold magenta shading on the chart where I was expecting it to be, I failed to notice the light blue boundary moved east.

Title: PLT OF LIGHT TWIN TALKING TO ZID INADVERTENTLY ENTERS R-5503.

Narrative: PREFLT PLANNING INCLUDED LOOKING AT A VFR PLANNING CHART (WHICH LATER TURNED OUT TO BE OUT OF DATE) AND A CURRENT SECTIONAL (CVG) FOR A VFR TRIP FROM CMH TO MKL. CMH CLRNC DELIVERY CLRED ME TO YORK VOR AS FILED (190 DEG AND 4500'). UPON CLBOUT AT 4300', I SAW THAT I WOULD NOT BE 'ON TOP' AND ASKED THE DEP CTLR FOR HIGHER. HE REPLIED ALT AT PLTS DISCRETION, AT WHICH TIME I CONTINUED TO 8300'. THE CTLR THEN HANDED ME OFF TO INDY CTR; SAME XPONDER CODE. UPON RADAR IDENT BY INDY CTR HE INFORMED ME THAT I WAS IN R-5503. HE ASKED IF MY CHARTS WERE CURRENT. I CHKED MY SECTIONAL AND IT WAS CURRENT UNTIL JAN 1991, THEN RECHKED THE PLANNING CHART AND DISCOVERED THAT IT HAD EXPIRED. THE CTLR INFORMED ME THAT R-5503 HAD BEEN EXPANDED EWARD AND VECTORED ME TO THE E TO EXIT. THINGS THAT WOULD HAVE AVOIDED THE EXCURSION, MY HAVING CAUGHT THE EXPIRED PLANNING CHART DATE. CMH DEP MONITORING THE RESTR AREA, ESPECIALLY IF IT HAS BEEN REPOSITIONED OR EXPANDED. BECAUSE THERE WAS THE BRIGHTER BOLD MAGENTA SHADING ON THE CHART WHERE I WAS EXPECTING IT TO BE, I FAILED TO NOTICE THE LIGHT BLUE BOUNDARY MOVED E.
