Narrative:
After level off at FL180 right engine began to vibrate intermittently. Soon after; the right engine vibrated continuously and egt began to rise. We pulled throttle to idle. The egt still rose to above 660 so we shut down right engine and ran appropriate QRH. We [notified ATC] and continued the arrival to [our destination]. The QRH directed to attempt an engine restart which we did so successfully. However; upon advancing the right throttle past idle the vibration returned; hence we kept the throttle at idle and landed single engine. Then taxied to gate. The aforementioned vibration felt like an engine compression stall; also flames were seen shooting out the right engine.
